A new community activity space in Corpach?

Kilmallie Community Company (KCCompany) has the opportunity to buy and redevelop the Scout Hall in Corpach as a new activity space for the whole community. Now, your thoughts are needed to shape what that looks like.

Becoming the hall’s owners would enable KCCompany to make it a space for the whole community, designed to the needs and desires of local people.

The first stage is for KCCompany to purchase the hall. After that, the group aims to give it a fresh lease of life, either through refurbishment or rebuild to meet the needs of local users.

KCCompany wants to hear from the community to ensure future plans reflect local desire, and to support the Scottish Land Fund application that will fund the hall purchase – making it strong with evidence of local interest.

Background

The Kilmallie Scout Group has leased the Kilmallie Church Hall from the Church of Scotland since 1977 (hence why it is known to most as the Scout Hall). Now, the Kilmallie Church Session wishes to sell the hall, and has offered KCCompany the opportunity to purchase the space.

The hall is approaching the end of its serviceable life, and KCCompany aims to purchase it to ensure its continued community use, and then secure funding to rebuild or refurbish it.

While the Kilmallie Scouts would continue to use the space as a tenant, this project aims to open up the facility and make it available for wider use, especially for groups (community, youth, outdoor and activity) whose needs are not met elsewhere.

FundingĀ

KCCompany plans to fund the purchase through a large grant from the Scottish Land Fund. Their SLF stage 1 application (for technical assistance) was successful and is funding the current development project. The development project supports their stage 2 funding application which, if successful, will enable them to acquire the hall.

Glic has been appointed as community development specialists alongside architects and quantity surveyors to produce assessments of the hall and KCCompany’s purchase. The output of these assessments will be a business plan guided by extensive local input and a feasibility study of a preferred operating model. This plan is current being developed, following community input via public consultation and survey in September 2025.
