Tarbert Harbour Authority is a non-profit Trust Port with aims to support the area's wider economic sustainability.

In late 2021, Tarbert Harbour Authority (THA) secured £257k in UK Government funding to pilot new projects that would support the rejuvenation and prosperity of the village, harbour and its environs.

Glic project managed a team of consultants to investigate, design and develop 11 major projects to support the community.

Having become familiar with the community and its needs through previous work and consultation, we were aware of THA’s aspirations to help develop and revive the area.

When Glic learnt about the new UK Community Renewal Fund, we reached out to THA to recommend that they apply and offer support in writing a grant application.

This application was successful and THA secured £257,250 in grant funding to help grow activity and community projects in the Tarbert area.

Glic worked as Project Managers on the subsequent work, bringing together the project team’s research and recommendations to produce comprehensive business cases for each site and project.

We worked alongside specialist consultants in architecture (John Renshaw Architects), engineering (Mott MacDonald) and tourism (ruralDimensions) and applied knowledge from previous work in the area to direct the project team towards known spaces that would benefit from regeneration.

The team investigated eleven major projects throughout Tarbert village over six months, developing concepts, designs and recommendations for each site.

Each project was presented and further developed through rigorous engagement with the community in public consultation.

As project managers, we coordinated the multiple stakeholders involved and collated all findings and evidence into comprehensive business cases. Each plan included site analysis, options appraisals, proposals and recommendations, projected costs and funding opportunities, and involved Glic’s own critical analysis into how each site could be operated successfully.
